Living Cultures: Strategic Planning Workshop, České Budějovice, Czech Republic

Tom Fleming will lead a weekend workshop with partners from across the cultural sector of South Bohemia, Czech Republic. This is part of a capacity-building and knowledge exchange programme with Budějovice 2028 - candidates to be European Capital of Culture.

Hosted at the incredible creative hub Vymenik1 and curated by the Vodany Culture House, the workshop is the first step toward establishing a regional cultural strategy - as a way of securing long-term strategic impact through culture with a focus on smaller cities and rural areas.

Evaluation of the Heritage Impact Accelerator and Heritage Enterprise Hub, University of Bedfordshire, UK

TFCC has been commissioned by the University of Bedfordshire to undertake an evaluation of a major new heritage innovation and engagement programme, focusing on Luton.

The Heritage Impact Accelerator offers a 10-month incubator programme that is delivered to two cohorts between 2021 and 2023. It aims to build the capacity of 12 Luton-based practitioners and/or organisations to deliver enhanced community heritage projects, develop new cultural and cross-sector partnerships and increase levels of contributed and earned income.

The Heritage Enterprise and Education Hub provides a programme of free needs-driven online and physical training sessions, events
and toolkits.

This builds on our work in Luton - a priority place for cultural investment and a place which has positioned culture as foundational to its sustainable and inclusive development.

Evaluation of Hounslow Summer of Culture, London, UK

TFCC has been commissioned by the London Borough of Hounslow to evaluate their Summer of Culture Programme for 2022.

Summer of Culture was a three-month programme of arts, culture and sport between June and August 2022. Its diverse programme aimed to provide opportunities for everyone to engage in culture whoever they are and wherever they live in the borough, whilst creating a transformational and lasting legacy for Hounslow.

TFCC will be undertaking a qualitative and quantitative evaluation to scope the role and impact of the Programme.

Moderator for Cultural and Creative Ecosystems Programme, Abu Dhabi Culture Summit 2022

Tom Fleming has the honour of moderating a programme of 4 discussions at the Abu Dhabi Culture Summit 2022. The discussions will focus on the approaches to developing sustainable, inclusive and innovative cultural and creative ecosystems. This includes a focus on place-based approaches, regulation, partnership and investment models. The sessions will bring together eminent speakers from France, Jamaica, UK, Spain, Mexico, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.

This extends from TFCC's wwork with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Culture and outh for the UAE. Tom will also participate in a round table with UNESCO which focuses on the status of the artist.

A Global Cultural Landscape Audit for The Wellcome Trust

TFCC has been commissioned by the Wellcome Trust to undertake a major piece of international research that scopes cultural activity and cultural agents which are relevant to Wellcome’s strategic interests in the global cultural space - e.g., creative and transdisciplinary research, arts, heritage, design, music, film, literature. This will focus extensively on culture and health, in particular with regard to Wellcome's research priorities in infectious diseases, mental health and health and climate change.

This project will deliver a regional analysis of the cultural landscape in specific geographies - including a potted history, key funders and key sensitivities that Wellcome should be aware of. It will suggest opportunities and partners for Wellcome in the different regions.

This work will be used to inform Wellcome’s future cultural partnerships and thinking in different international contexts.

The Cultural Partnerships team manages Wellcome’s relationships with cultural partners and leads on International Cultural Programmes and Hub residencies. Their work links Wellcome’s scientific approaches to society’s health challenges by co-producing imaginative and inclusive cultural programmes, and by hosting experimental transdisciplinary research.
